'Biggest Loser' to hold casting call in Charlotte
(MCT) — The TV series "The Biggest Loser" is coming to Charlotte Saturday for a casting call. It's part of a 13-city, cross-country search for new contestants.
The series is one of NBC's most popular reality shows. It follows competitors who try to lose weight and get in shape with the help of trainers and dietitians.
The casting call will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Planet Fitness, 10215-B University City Blvd. in the Back Creek Shopping Center.
Casting producers are looking for "outgoing and charismatic teams of two, and individuals who have the personality, desire and competitive edge to vie for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to lose weight, change their lives forever and compete for a grand prize of $250,000." Candidates must be at least 18 and legal residents of the United States.
Prospective contestants are asked not to line up prior to three hours before the start of the casting call. Contestants are encouraged to bring a nonreturnable photograph. Casting call application forms will be provided on site.

Team members will meet 5 times a week for one-hour training sessions with frequent weight assessments conducted throughout the three-month process.
Celebrity involvement will include Chante’ Moore as host for the TV project, Vivica A. Fox for the mid-contest Boot Camp, and Broadway Star and American Idol finalist, Tamyra Gray . Michael Jai White , a black belt in several karate styles and Film actor appearing in Tyson , will also participate by preparing the women for a self-defense challenge.
